Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 10, 2012, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. C.W. Parker, Odyssey Hospice Chaplin, officiating.Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Mr. Van Houten was born March 16, 1928 in Pampa. Van was a resident of Pampa from 1928 to 1940 and from 1995 to present. Van was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII. He married Dorothy Trantham on June 10, 1967 in Big Spring. She passed away on July 24, 2005. Van was a production supervisor for El Paso Natural Gas retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and he was a Baptist.Survivors include a daughter: Linda Whitley and husband Sam of Belton; 2 sons: Donald Van Houten and wife Cheri of Pampa and David Van Houten and wife Susan of Suwanee, Georgia; 1 step-son: Wayne Trantham of North Richland Hills; 1 step-daughter: Elaine White of Sugartown, Louisiana; 1 brother: Ira Van Houten of Sacramento, California; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
