Ted R. Rankin

Ted R. Rankin, 54, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, in Amarillo.Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Miami Cemetery in Miami with Rev. Tom Stribling, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Happy, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.Ted was born Oct. 18, 1958 in Stamford, Texas. He attended Miami schools and was a 1977 graduate of Miami High School. He attended West Texas State University in Canyon. He married Connie Kennedy on May 25, 1979 in Olton. Ted was a longtime Roberts County farmer, rancher, and cowboy. He was a former trustee of the Miami ISD school board for 12 years. He was an adult leader for Roberts County 4-H for several years and served on the Roberts County Soil Conservation Board for many years.Survivors include his wife: Connie Rankin of the home; 2 sons: Daniel Rankin of Alanreed and Tyler Rankin and wife Meagan of Miami; his father and stepmother: Rudolph and Lynda Rankin of Miami; a brother: Newell Rankin and wife Toni of Miami; a grandson: Kaden Rankin of Miami. Ted was preceded in death by his mother, Fern Rankin, in 2003, and by his sister, Janet Voss, in 2010.Memorials may be made to Miami Area Youth Organization (MAYO), P. O.
