George Harold Wallace, 76, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, in Amarillo.Services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, officiating.Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.Mr. Wallace was born Jan. 27, 1936, in Clarksville, Texas to Harold S. and Inez Porterfield Wallace. He graduated from Midland High School in 1953 and moved to Pampa in 1955 with Magnolia Oil Co. George went to work for the Pampa Police Dept. in 1959 where he served for 17 years and retired as the assistant Chief of Police. George married Sherry Cook on Sept. 11, 1980 in Miami and that same year he went to work for the Texas Railroad Commission where he was an investigator for the Oil and Gas Division, retiring in 1998. He was also a farmer, rancher, and trained cattle dogs. He was a Presbyterian. George was preceded in death by his father in 1996, his mother in 1948, and his daughter, Deborah Carol Brownlow, in 2006.Survivors include his wife, Sherry Cook Wallace, of the home; a daughter, Michele Wallace McCutchen and husband John of Pampa; his mother, Ella Ruth Wallace of Clarksville; 2 brothers, Ben Wallace and wife Ann of Texarkana and Robert Wallace and wife Dolly of Bosque Farms, NM; 3 grandsons, Hall David Christopher of Odessa, Greyson Robert Christopher of Pampa, and Erik Sabine and wife Laura of Henrietta; and by 2 great grandsons, Josiah and Isaiah Sabine, of Henrietta.Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home.
