W. A. ?Bill? Smith, 82, died January 18, 2013 in Pampa.Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, January 21, 2013 at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Barry Owens, associate pastor, officiating.Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Mr. Smith was born October 3, 1930 in Seminole County, Oklahoma. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1952. He married Sue Coleman on March 12, 1955. He worked for Celanese Chemical Company in the accounting department for 35 years. He retired in 1992 as senior payroll clerk. Bill was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and was the chairman of the counting committee. He was an avid golfer and hunter. One of his special memories was when he went to Russia on a mission trip with First Baptist Church. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and he will be missed. Bill was preceded in death by his parents: Edmond A. Smith and Rose L. Griffin. Survivors include a daughter: Julie Collins and husband Bruce of Amarillo; 3 sons: Terry Smith and wife Liz of Amarillo, Steve Smith of Pampa, and Chris Smith of Arlington; 7 grandchildren: April Ward and husband Dane, Adam Rodgers, Andy Rodgers, Riordan Hill, Alex Collins and Matthew Collins, all of Amarillo, and Nathan Smith of Pampa; 2 great-grandchildren: Presley Jade Ward and Jackson Dane Ward, both of Amarillo; 3 sisters: Florence Farriell, Edna Dudley and Estella Dalrymple; and a brother: Bob Smith.Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 621, Pampa, Texas 79066-0621.The family will be at 2721 Navajo.
