Miami, TexasLorene Thompson Paris, 90, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 in Pampa.Services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at the First Christian Church in Miami with Steve Porter, her son-in-law and pastor of Primitive Baptist Church in Paducah, and Rev. Billy Holland, pastor of First Christian Church of Miami, officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.Mrs. Paris was born Aug. 30, 1922 in Roberts County where she had been a lifelong resident. She was a 1940 graduate of Miami High School and attended West Texas State University in Canyon where she majored in art.Lorene married J. D. Paris on June 20, 1944 in Miami. She and her husband owned and operated Paris Motor Co. in Miami from 1948-1960 and they farmed and ranched in Roberts County for many years. Lorene was a member of First Christian Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member and Past Worthy Matron of Miami Chapter #98 Order of the Eastern Star. Lorene served in many civic organizations of her community. She was a member and past president of the Child?s Study Club. Since 1968, Lorene wrote the ?Heritage Most Interesting? column in the Miami Chief, and she painted the panoramic backdrop for the Roberts County Museum. She was a licensed realtor for Shed Realty in Pampa for many years.Survivors include her husband, J. D. Paris, of the home; two daughters, Martha Porter and husband Steve of Pampa and Nancy Burnett and husband Jim of Wolfforth; four grandchildren, Stephanie Shankle and husband Shane of Colleyville, John Porter and wife Tasha of North Richland Hills, Courtney Cox and husband Clint of Providence Village, and Sarah Burnett of Lubbock; 8 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Billy Jo Ratliff and Mary Thompson, both of Miami; a brother-in-law, Jack Sloan of Pampa; and by several nieces and nephews. Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Viva Thompson and by a brother, J. W. Thompson.Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 201 E.
