Joyce Hill Cogdell

Joyce Hill Cogdell, died one day shy of her 79th birthday at 1:37 PM on January 31, 2013.Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Mrs. Cogdell was born February 1, 1934 in Pampa. She was a graduate of Lefors High School in 1952 and resided in Pampa for 61 years. She married Shelby Ray Cogdell on April 9, 1954 in Clovis, New Mexico. They were best friends for almost 59 years. Joyce was employed at Ideal Food Store as the bakery manager for 14 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was fondly known as ?GranGran? by her grandchildren. The family would like to extend their gratitude to BSA Hospice for their loving care and assistance to Joyce.Survivors include her husband: Shelby Cogdell of the home; 3 daughters: Shelley Rupert and husband Paul of Pensacola, Florida, Kelley Cogdell and husband Mike of Arlington, and Carla Cogdell and husband Jerry of Panhandle; a sister: Rachel Gutierrez of La Habra, California; 3 grandchildren: Kelsey Womack and husband Eric of Pace, Florida, Kristen Rupert of Mobile, Alabama, and Jacob Rupert and wife Katie of Ketchikan, Alaska; 7 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved pets: Socks and Hairy. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; Ella Dawn and W. T. Hill; 2 brothers: ?Dub? Hill and Wayne Hill; and a sister: Virginia Jones.Memorials may be made to the W. T.
