Merle W. Tennant

Merle W. Tennant, 84, died February 26, 2013 in Amarillo.Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, March 1, 2013 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, with Bill Burkholder, officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Tennant was born December 13, 1928 in Borger. He married Sylvia Ladner on July 5, 1950 in Gulfport, Mississippi. He had been a resident of Miami since 1953. He worked for Diamond Shamrock/Maxus Energy, retiring in 1990. Merle was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion. Merle was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Opal Tennant.Survivors include his wife, Sylvia of the home; 2 sons, Douglas Earl Tennant and wife Susan of Canadian, and Ricky Lloyd Tennant and wife Marsha of Miami; 5 grandchildren, Terri Lee of Amarillo, Sherri Willis of Dumas, Ken Tennant, Christy White and Matt Tennant, all of Miami; and 8 great-grandchildren.Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
