Billie D. Giles Sr.

Billie D. Giles, Sr., 89, died March 22, 2013 in Pampa.Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Highland Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Nachtigall, officiating.Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery with military honors courtesy of U. S. Army, Fort Hood, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Mr. Giles was born January 9, 1924 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He married Dorothy Whetsel on November 16, 1946 in Lordsburg, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on October 27, 2011. Billie had been a resident of Pampa since 2005, moving from Snyder. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in the Pacific during World War II where he received two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars. He worked at Western Texas College in Snyder where he retired after 20 years of service. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church.Survivors include 2 sons, Bill Giles, Jr., and wife Roxanne of Pampa and Marvin Giles and wife Christan of Dallas; 3 daughters, Reta Jackson and husband Keith and Marcellene Reich and husband Jim, all of Fort Worth, and Myra Janice Floyd of Ennis; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
