Lefors, TexasClayton ?Papa? Lock, 86, died March 26, 2013 in Pampa. Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, March 29, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Lefors, with Rev. Lewis Ellis, retired Baptist minister, and Pastor Paul Nachtigall of Highland Baptist Church of Pampa, officiating.Burial will follow in Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors, with military honors courtesy of U. S. Army, Fort Hood, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.Mr. Lock was born September 15, 1926 in Deering, Missouri. He joined the U. S. Army in December of 1944, serving during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, retiring in 1968 at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. He married Dorothy Brown on May 31, 1952 in McLean. He had been a resident of Lefors since 1969. Clayton worked for Highland General Hospital in Pampa in the maintenance department. He then worked for Gray County Precinct in Lefors as an equipment operator. For the past several years, he volunteered at the Freedom Museum in Pampa. He was a member of VFW Post #1657 and First Baptist Church of Lefors. Clayton was inducted into the Vietnam Hall of Fame in 2009. He was a member of the Lefors City Council and delivered Meals on Wheels. He and his great grandchildren helped place flags at the Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors for Memorial Day to honor veterans. Clayton also helped to set the veteran?s memorial at Memorial Heights and set many military headstones there as well. In addition, he cleaned and maintained Shook Cemetery in Shook, Missouri.Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Lock, of the home; 2 sons, Clay Lock and wife Tonya and Dale Lock and wife Pam, all of Lefors; a daughter, Stephanie Weatherly and husband Matt of Midland; 2 brothers, Herschel Lock of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Cecil Lock of Qulin, Missouri; 2 granddaughters, Shawna Frazier and husband Scott of Providence Village, and Jennifer Shephard and husband Marcus of Lefors; a grandson, Len Lock and wife Valerie of Lefors; 12 great grandchildren, Ashley Retana and husband Oscar, Amber Shephard, Alana Shephard, Anthony Shephard, Avery Shephard, Adam Shephard, Taylor Rangel, Teagan Rangel, Ambrosia Lock, Aurora Lock, Braydon Weatherly, and Noah Frazier; and a great great grandchild, Zayne Ponce. Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ethel Lock, a son, Leonard Lock, 2 brothers, Clinton and Earl, a sister, Mary Summerfield, and by 3 great granddaughters, Courtney Lock, Hannah Weatherly, and Bailey Weatherly.Memorials may be made to Pampa VFW Post #1657, P.
