Alfred Nathan Hopson, 80, died March 29, 2013 in Pampa.Services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Briarwood Church with Rev. Albert Maggard, pastor of First Pentecostal Holiness Church, and Paul Nachtigall, chaplain of Interim Hospice, officiating.Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM Tuesday at Rest Lawn Cemetery in Hereford, with Rev. Albert Maggard, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Mr. Hopson was born September 29, 1932 in Roosevelt, Oklahoma. He married Janey Murrell on November 11, 1952 in Hereford. Nathan had been a resident of Pampa since 1985. He worked as a director of public works and an instructor for extension services for the Texas Municipal Authority for Hereford, Abernathy, Sweetwater and for the City of Pampa, retiring in 1994. He was a member of NWWA. Mr. Hopson was a former pastor of Highland PH Church now known as Lighthouse Covenant for 18 years as a Bi Vocational pastor, retiring in 2005. After retiring from the church he enjoyed several mission trips to Mexico and Ireland. Nathan was part of the Texas Municipal League for 25 years. Survivors include his wife, Janey Hopson of the home; 4 daughters, Lori Locke and husband Danny of Logan, New Mexico, Sue Ellen Kidd of Pampa, Kristi Hall and husband Bobby of Canyon, and Rainy Spencer and husband Cliff of Pampa; 2 granddaughters, Lydia Harris and husband Scott of Brownfield and Amanda Armstrong and husband Adam of Amarillo; 2 grandsons, Justin Paeltz of Dallas and Nathan Dean Hopson of Portales, New Mexico; and 2 great-grandsons, Ethan and Maverick Harris, both of Brownfield; 1 great ? granddaughter, Ella Harris, of Brownfield. Nathan was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Lydia Hopson; a sister, Connie Alteria; and a daughter, Tracy Jorde Hopson.
