Joe W. Morris, 85, died Saturday, March 30, 2013 in Pampa.Services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Briarwood Church with Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor, officiating.Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Mr. Morris was born November 17, 1927 in Quanah, Texas. He married Leta Faye Stewart on July 18, 1945 in El Dorado, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2012. Joe had been a resident of Pampa since 1955. He worked for Trend Construction Company, and Arthur Brothers and Mundy Construction Company, both at the Pampa Celanese Plant, for many years until his retirement in 1990. He was a founding member of Highland Pentecostal Holiness Church which later became Lighthouse Covenant Fellowship. Survivors include 2 daughters, Shirley Morris of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Sheila Swaney and husband Rick of Carrollton; 3 sons, Tom Morris and wife Barbara of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Joe Morris and wife Patsy of Pampa, and Robert Morris and wife Cara of Amarillo; 2 brothers, Orville Morris of Dallas and Gene Morris of Abilene; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, W. C. and Florence Morris; 9 brothers and sisters, 2 grandchildren, Jeremy Morris and Sheri Popejoy; and 2 daughters-in-law, Sandra Morris and Marilyn Morris.Memorials may be made to Briarwood Church, 1800 W. Harvester, Pampa, Texas 79065.The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 PM Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home.
