Dr. Robert L. ?Bob? Lyle, 83, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, in Pampa.Services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. John Glover, associate pastor of Field Street Baptist Church in Cleburne, and Rev. Doug DuBose, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia with Rev. Barry Owens, associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Pampa, officiating, with military honors by the U. S. Navy. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Dr. Lyle was born July 22, 1929 in Amarillo and was a 1948 graduate of Amarillo High School. He attended West Texas State University and received his B. S. degree from Texas A & M University and his DDS degree from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. Dr. Lyle served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Lou Ree Campbell on Aug. 5, 1952 in Amarillo. Bob practiced dentistry in Frisco from 1961-1965 and in Pampa from 1965 until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Everyman?s Bible Class. He was a former trustee of the Pampa Independent School District board for 12 years and was a former member and a past president of Pampa Noon Lions Club. Bob was an avid golfer.Survivors include his wife, Lou Ree Lyle, of the home; a daughter, Debbie Stewart and husband John of Odessa; a son, Lt. Col. Clay Lyle and wife Stephanie of Manassas, Virginia; a sister, Mary Ann Wells, of Lake Jackson; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and by a special friend and neighbor, Travis Taylor.
