Sherry Ellen Hood Begert

Sherry Ellen Hood Begert, 73, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 18, 2013 in Pampa.Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Fairview Cemetery, with pastor Paul Nachtigall with Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Begert was born August 16, 1939 on the family farm near Paducah to Fletcher and Madeline Hood. She moved to Pampa in 1954 and graduated from Pampa High School in 1957. She married El Dean Begert in 1958 and they moved to Amarillo in 1963. Sherry returned to Pampa in 2003. She was a homemaker and a member of Caprock Baptist Church in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Nick Hood and John Ted Hood; and her husband of 42 years, El Dean Begert.The family would like to thank Pampa Nursing Center and BSA Hospice of Pampa for their love and care of Sherry. Survivors include her daughter, D?Ann Gonzales and husband Johnny of Pampa; 5 grandchildren, Anthony Gonzales of Amarillo, Cristan Gonzales and Cheyenne Gonzales, both of Pampa, Andrew Gonzales of Stinnett, and Christina Strong of Gun Barrel City; 8 great-grandchildren, Collin Gonzales, Aiden Gonzales, Josue Gonzales, Gabriela Gonzales, Austen McCoy, Alyssa McCoy, Caitlynn Strong and Dillon Strong, plus a great-granddaughter due in a few weeks; a brother, Clayton Hood and wife Donnah of Amarillo; and a sister, Shannon Hood of Salt Lake City, Utah.
