Francis Marie Boyd

Francis Marie Boyd, 103, died Saturday, May 11, 2013, in Pampa.Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 14, 2013, in Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Paul Nachtigall, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Mrs. Boyd was born Feb. 2, 1910 in Indian Territory at Elk City, Oklahoma to Henry and Anna Hutchens. Marie and family lived in the community of Kellerville, Texas from 1932-1962 when they moved their house to Pampa, and she had lived in Pampa for the past 51 years. For the last nine years, she had been living at Pampa Nursing Home where her pastor and other friends have continued to visit with her since she was admitted. She loved the nine years she lived in the Pampa Nursing Home and was always joking with the nurses and other staff members. She always liked to have a lot of cookies so she could share them with her helpers and the staff.Marie loved her church and was a very dedicated member of Highland Baptist church as long as she was able to attend. She was a member of the VFW Women?s Auxiliary and the Home Demonstration Club. Marie loved sewing throw rugs and quilting. She made quilts for several members of her family as well as making one for each of the Pampa Fire Department employees. She presented the quilts at the fire department, and a picture of the occasion was published in the Pampa News.Mary had a very good close friend, Mary Evans, who had been visiting her weekly for many years. During her last few days, she was assisted by a BSA Hospice nurse, Lori Crutchfield, who was very helpful to all the family and was greatly appreciated.Survivors include her middle son, Charles Henry Boyd and wife, Mary Ann, of Amarillo; a sister, Eleanor Tyre, of Pampa; a brother, Orvil Lee Hutchens and wife, Genny, of Langhorne, PA; six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jasper Washington (Jack) Boyd, in 1972; her oldest son, Earl Curtis Boyd, in 1998; her youngest son, Bobby Joe Boyd, in 2009; two brothers, John Hutchens and Wayne Hutchens, and a sister, Lucille Smith.The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Baptist Church, 1301 N. Banks, Pampa, TX 79065.
