Don Charles Hickman, 78, died May 29, 2013 in Amarillo.Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, May 31, 2013, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Pastor Roger Hubbard of Lake Tanglewood Community Church, officiating.Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie, with Scott Kelley, Mr. Hickman?s stepson, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Mr. Hickman was born September 11, 1934 in Bowie to Charlie and Maurine Forrester Hickman. He was reared in Bowie, graduating from Bowie High School in 1953. He attended Basin Engineering in Odessa, starting a career in the oil industry. Don owned and operated Panhandle Meter Service, Inc. in Pampa, retiring in 2011 after 50 years of service. He married Edna Kelley in 1990. Don was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and was a 32nd degree Mason with Top O? Texas Masonic Lodge #1381. He was a member of the First Christian Church. Don was a pilot and loved to fly. He was preceded in death by his parents.Survivors include his wife, Edna Hickman of the home; 2 daughters, Debra Hucks and husband Tim of Midland, and Sherry Hickman of Booker; 2 sons, Mike Hickman and wife Ronda of Casper, Wyoming, and Kelly Hickman of Pampa; 1 step son, Scott Kelley of Brock; 1 step daughter, Krispen Thielepape of Waco; 6 grandchildren, Tanner Hucks and wife Kirsten of Frisco, Jayme Lambert and husband Jared of McKinney, Zach Hucks of Amarillo, Tori Ritthaler of Flower Mound, Kendall Hickman and Becca Hickman, both of Casper, Wyoming, 4 step grandchildren, Morgan Thielepape and Logan Thielepape, both of Waco, Joshua Kelley and Trevor Kelley, both of Brock, 3 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Hickman of Bowie. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 1633 N. Nelson, Pampa, Texas 79065, BSA Hospice c/o Harrington Cancer Foundation, 1600 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, Texas 79106, or a charity of choice.
