Gladys Helen Simmons, 90, died June 6, 2013 in Pampa.Services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, June 10, 2013, at Central Baptist Church, with Rev. Rick Parnell, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Mrs. Simmons was born January 10, 1923 in Fairfax, Oklahoma. She married John Simmons on January 23, 1940 in Kansas City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1996. She moved from Oklahoma to Skellytown in 1957, and then moved to Pampa in 1989. Gladys was a member of Central Baptist Church and was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge. She served on the Carson County Library Board and was a member of the Carson County Home Demonstration Club. Gladys loved fishing and gospel music. She was preceded in death by a brother and 2 sisters.Survivors include 3 sons, Johnny Don Simmons and wife Karen of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Winfred Simmons and wife Linda of Pampa, and Larry Eugene Simmons and wife Carol of Montgomery; a daughter, Debra Phillips and husband Galen of White Deer; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
