AmarilloBillie Pingel Long, 85, died June 27, 2013 in Amarillo.Services will be at 1:00 PM Monday, July 1, 2013, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount, with Dr. G. A. Roach, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Vega under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.Mrs. Long was born January 5, 1928 in Amarillo to Bueford and Velma Zimmerman Pieratt. She resided in Vega for many years before returning to Amarillo in 1984. She married Wayne Pingel in 1947 in Amarillo. He preceded her in death in 1981. She later married James Long on March 20, 2004 in Amarillo. Billie was a former longtime member of Vega United Methodist Church and was currently a member of Hillside Christian Church in Amarillo. She volunteered for Northwest Texas Hospital Auxiliary for over 20 years and served as president of that organization. Billie was a past president of the 39 and Over Singles Club in Amarillo and could ?scoot a boot? with the best of them. Her family will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Ron Pingel, and a twin sister, Jackie Sanders.Survivors include her husband, James of the home, a daughter, Cindy Rea and husband Gary of Wildorado, three sons, Steve Pingel of Amarillo, Keith Pingel of Vega, and Kent Pingel of Fort Worth, a stepdaughter, Rhonda Long of Amarillo, twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, a step-grandson, two step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.Mrs. Long will lie in state at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home from Saturday afternoon until service time.
