Samuel Nathan Godwin

Samuel Nathan Godwin, 99, died August 16, 2013 in Pampa.Memorial Services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Briarwood Church with Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor, officiating. Private family graveside will be at Fairview Cemetery.Mr. Godwin was born June 12, 1914 in Houston to Grover and Bennie Godwin. They later moved to Dallas where Sam grew up. Sam married Grace Anna Ewell on October 6, 1940. She preceded him in death on February 7, 2008. In Sam?s early years he served in Christian ministry, pastoring and pioneering churches as well as conducting revival meetings. Through the years Sam published and distributed Christian literature and he had a radio ministry. In his later years Sam ministered in churches as a layman and had an email ministry. Two of Sam?s attributes were notably humor and generosity, which was much appreciated throughout his extended family. Sam was a member of the Briarwood Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.Survivors include two daughters, Carol Baumann and husband Darwin of Amarillo, and Joyce Moran and husband Charles of Pampa, one son, Dennis Godwin and wife Norma of Keller, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, his youngest brother Ernest Godwin of Dallas, and a host of friends and family.
