J. D. Paris, 91, of Miami, died Monday, September 2, 2013, in Amarillo.Services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at the First Christian Church in Miami with Steve Porter, his son-in-law and pastor of the Primitive Baptist Church in Paducah, officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery with military honors by Blue Knights Honor Guard, Altus AFB, Altus, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.Mr. Paris was born March 16, 1922 in Roberts County to Leo and Thelma Paris. He was a 1940 graduate of Miami High School and served the U. S. Army Air Force from 1942-1945 in Trinidad in the British West Indies. J. D. married Lorene Thompson on June 20, 1944 in Miami. She preceded him in death on Jan. 18, 2013. He owned and operated Paris Motor Co. in Miami from 1948-1960 and farmed and ranched in the Miami area for many years.J. D. was a member of the First Christian Church of Miami, Miami Masonic Lodge #805 for 67 years, American Legion Post, and he served as a director of the Gray-Roberts Farm Bureau for many years.Survivors include two daughters, Martha Porter and husband Steve of Pampa and Nancy Burnett and husband Jim of Wolfforth; a sister, Billy Jo Ratliff of Miami; a sister-in-law, Mary Thompson of Miami; a brother-in-law, Jack Sloan of Pampa; four grandchildren, Stephanie Shankle and husband Shane of Colleyville, John Porter and wife Tasha of North Richland Hills, Courtney Cox and husband Clint of Providence Village, and Sarah Truesdell and husband Thomas of Lubbock; and by eight great grandchildren.
