Winfield, 92, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 in McLean.Graveside services will be at 10 AM Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors with Gene Gee, minister of Lefors Church of Christ, officiating. Military honors are courtesy of the U. S. Navy. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.Mr. Winfield was born April 23, 1921 in Polk County, Arkansas. He married Maudine Rhodes on April 12, 1941 in an Oklahoma corn field. She passed away on Oct. 26, 2003. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during World War II. Shorty was a carpenter for many years before he began preaching in 1968. He and Maudine served as missionaries to Swaziland in South Africa from 1968-1971 and 1974. He was a Church of Christ minister serving in New Mexico, Texas, and Arkansas. Shorty had lived in Lefors since 2002 and moved to the McLean Care Center in 2010. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy Hill, and by three brothers and two sisters.Survivors include three daughters, Joy Fulton and husband Joe of McLean, Emily Plumlee and husband George of Jean, Texas, and Janice Parsons and husband James of Mesquite; two sons, Jim Winfield and wife Shannon of Estancia, New Mexico and Tim Winfield of Dothan, Alabama; a brother, Junior Winfield of Ruidoso, New Mexico; a sister, Juanita Krebbs and husband Charles of Hatfield, Arkansas; 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.Memorials may be made to The Children?s Home of Lubbock, P.
