Elmo Thompson, 81, died Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in Pampa.Services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, and Rev. Rick Parnell, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Mr. Thompson was born June 8, 1932 in Burns Flat, Oklahoma, and was a graduate of Pampa High School. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. Elmo had been a resident of Pampa since 1947. He married Ruth Miller on May 27, 1951 in Clovis, New Mexico. He worked for Celanese for 35 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. Elmo was preceded in death by his parents, Oral and Villa Lea Thompson. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Thompson of the home, two daughters, LaDonna Bohannan of Pampa and Alisa Gibson and husband Greg of Ponca City, Oklahoma, a son, Richie Thompson and wife Heather of Pampa, two granddaughters, Ashlee Orand and husband Danny of Pampa and Holly Gibson of Ponca City, Oklahoma and three great-grandsons, Tyler, Cooper and Evan, all of Pampa.Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church Children?s Department, 513 E.
