Iris Jean Parks, 77, died October 30, 2013 in Pampa. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Jim Sinyard, pastor of the Carpenters Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Parks was born September 12, 1936 in McCamey. She married Frank M. Parks on August 7, 1952 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1994. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1954, moving from Anson. Iris was a cook for the Black Gold Restaurant for many years. She was the housekeeping supervisor at Pampa Nursing Center and sold Avon for many years. Iris was a Baptist and was a former member of the Moose Lodge, as well as serving as a Brownie leader. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Whitmarsh, and two brothers, Jeff Hawthorne and Leroy Hawthorne. Survivors include a daughter, Angela Simmons and husband Pete Garcia of Pampa, three sons, John Parks and wife Donna Hood of Skellytown, Tommy Parks and wife Sherry of Pampa, and Timothy Parks of Amarillo and wife Dawn Stevens of Pampa, 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her sister, Mary Lawler and husband J. D. of Amarillo.
