Roy Julian Parsons

Roy Julian Parsons, 84, died November 11, 2013 in Pampa. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Lonny Robbins, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Parsons was born April 21, 1929 in La Feria, Texas to Roy Sidney and Jennie Mae Fisher Parsons. He was also called “Jack” by his family throughout his childhood and early adulthood. Roy graduated from high school and began a long career of various professions, including a lineman for Central Power & Light, roughneck in New Orleans, oilfield work for NOWSCO in Oklahoma, California and finally Pampa. He and his wife Mary, of more than thirty years, lived and worshipped in Pampa, made many friends, and raised his stepchildren there and in Ventura, California. He ended his career as a professional driver, crisscrossing the country and seeing almost all 48 contiguous states. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, and a son, Allen Wayne Parsons. Survivors include a son, Roy Jack Parsons of New Braunfels, a daughter, Deborah Parsons Elliott of San Marcos, four grandchildren, Lucas Allen Parsons, Allen Preston Parsons, Autry Colleen Parsons and Roy Jaden Parsons, all of central Texas, and his sister, Patty Rogers of Alvin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75231, or to the charity of choice.
