Thomas J. Cox, 79, died December 10, 2013 in Wheeler. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Fairview Cemetery, with Steve Cox, pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church, officiating. Masonic rites are courtesy of Pampa Masonic Lodge #966 AF& AM, and services are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Cox was born October 8, 1934 in Pampa, where he was a lifelong resident. He was a 1953 graduate of Pampa High School and attended Texas A&M University for two years where he received a football scholarship in order to play golf. Thomas worked for Cabot/Ingersol Rand and National Oilwell as a machine shop timekeeper. He was a Methodist and a member of the Pampa Masonic Lodge #966 AF&AM. Thomas was a very loving and caring man and enjoyed watching his grandkids sporting events. He was preceded in death by his parents, M. N. and Virginia Cox; and a son-in-law, Terry W. Harris in 2006. Survivors include three daughters, Terri Lynn Harris of Amarillo, Tammy Lou Hughey of Chandler, and Tracie Lois Timmons and husband Steve of Wheeler; seven grandchildren, Barkley Miles Harris, Kristen Michelle Harris, Sarah Pearl Hughey, Aaron David Hughey, Lauren Austin Timmons, Stephen Tyler Timmons and Kelley Ray Timmons; four great-grandsons; a brother, Jack Cox of Mineola; and a sister, Pat Stewart of Pampa.
