Herman Wayne Cartwright, 77, of Canadian, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 16, 2013, at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian, with Rev. Danny Sanders, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Canadian, officiating. Military honors will be by the U. S. Marine Corps, and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Cartwright was born February 21, 1936 in Matador and was a graduate of Matador High School. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps for 16 years and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. He had been a resident of Canadian for the past 13 years. Herman married Jane Scaff on December 7, 1966 in Washington, DC. He was a longtime truck driver, a great dad, and a great “Papa.” Survivors include his wife, Jane Cartwright of the home; a daughter, Zane Riley and husband Jerry of Canadian; a son, Hoss Cartwright and wife Roxanne of Odessa; a brother, Garland Cartwright of Matador; and six grandchildren, Cylenna Patterson and husband Lamont and Jesse Riley, all of Pampa, Christian Riley and Julian Riley, both of Canadian, and Robert Cartwright and Zachary Cartwright, both of Odessa.
