Deborah Gail Brame

Skellytown, Texas Deborah Gail Brame, 50, passed away on February 3, 2014 in Skellytown after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 8, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Pampa, with Rev. Hiram Reyes, Rev. Rob Lackey, Rev. Carter Pirtle, and Rev. Dale Berry, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Debbie was born December 3, 1963 in Pampa. She attended first through the eleventh grade in Texline, and graduated from White Deer High School in 1982. She married the love of her life, Bruce Brame, on June 26, 1982 at First Baptist Church in Skellytown where she had been a resident ever since. Debbie worked for White Deer ISD for twenty-eight years. She was the Skellytown Elementary School secretary for twenty years and the Administration Assistant to the Business Manager for eight, retiring in 2010. Debbie loved her church family at First Baptist Church in Skellytown where she had been very involved and a member since 1982. She especially enjoyed working with the youth. She served as the church youth leader, worked with Acteens, Girls in Action and Vacation Bible School through the years, and led Girls in Fellowship Together women’s ministry. Debbie was blessed with a beautiful voice and enjoyed sharing her gift with others. In 1999 she co-founded the Sugar Plum Program to provide Christmas gifts for kids in Skellytown. Debbie had been involved with the American Cancer Society and the Relay for Life of Carson County for the past fourteen years. In 2008, she was diagnosed with colon cancer. In 2011, she was named a “Hero of Hope” and had traveled all over the state, sharing her journey and inspiring others to join in the fight against cancer. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bailey Brame. Survivors include her husband, Bruce Brame of the home; a daughter, Kori Throckmorton and husband Josh of Pampa; a son, Jacob Brame and wife Brandi of Canyon; her parents, Dexter and Betty Cochran of White Deer; her mother-in-law, Marlene Brame of Skellytown; a brother, Rick Cochran of White Deer; two sisters, Melinda Cochran of Borger and Terrie Cochran of Skellytown; and her sister-in-law, Pam Berry and husband Dale of Nocona. She was the proud and loving “Lolli” to Sawyer and Rowan Throckmorton and Hunter Brame, and excitedly expecting another grandchild due this June. Other survivors are six nieces, one nephew, seven great nieces, one great nephew, and countless cousins, family members and friends. Debbie will be remembered for her faith in Jesus Christ, her devotion to her family, her genuine love of others, her kindness and generosity, her sense of humor, her beautiful voice, her love for the color purple, her craftiness, and for her personal motto, “the anchor holds,” from Hebrews 6:19. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, February 7, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home in Pampa. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Skellytown Panfork Scholarship Fund, or the American Cancer Society Carson County Relay for Life.
