Lesta Sloan

Lesta Sloan, 92, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 in Pampa. Services will be at 3:30 PM Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Rev. Rick Parnell, associate pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Sloan was born Nov. 28, 1921 in Alluwe, Oklahoma, where she attended schools and graduated from high school in 1937. After graduation, she briefly lived in Nowata, Oklahoma. In the early 1950’s, she moved to the Texas Panhandle where she met H. A. Sloan. They married on Dec. 30, 1957 in Clovis, NM. She worked at Mathis Furniture for several years. Lesta was a member of Central Baptist Church since 1972. She will be remembered as a very caring individual who loved and cared for her grandchildren as if they were her own children. Survivors include her husband Holland (H. A.) Sloan of the home; a son, Donald Dick and wife Mary of Maynard, Arkansas; six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren. Lesta was preceded in death by two daughters, Sue White and Earline Baston, three grandchildren, Diane Crawford, Harold Baston, and Earl Dean Richardson, and by a brother and a sister.
