Lexington, TexasHomer Earl Lester, 69, died Monday, February 24, 2014 in a tragic accident while working in Arizona. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, March 17, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, with Elder Steve Porter, pastor of the Primitive Baptist Church of Paducah, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.Homer was born October 22, 1944 in Wellington to Sam and Jackie Lester. He was reared in Skellytown and graduated from White Deer High School. Homer lived in Pampa for 25 years, moving to Blue in 2001 to be near his grandson whom he loved very much. He worked for Texaco for over 30 years, worked security for Manor Downs, and was currently working for Swift Trucking as a truck driver. Homer never met a stranger and loved to talk. He loved the ranch life, all of his dogs, goats and especially the horses. He also loved refereeing high school football and basketball games, which he did for thirty-two years. Homer was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Thomas Lester.Survivors include his wife, Sheryl Lester of the home; a stepdaughter, Lorrie Phillips and husband Mark of Elgin; grandson, Cole Phillips of Elgin; two sisters, Joy Mills of Stephenville and Nancy Riley and husband Don of Waco; nieces and nephews, Laura Mayo and husband Beau of Stephenville, Sam Mills of Frisco, Michele Shero and husband Eric of Waco, Kipp Lester and wife Kim, and Kirt Lester and wife Amy, all of Amarillo; and his sister-in-law, Kem Lester of Amarillo.Memorials may be made to the White Deer Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O.
