Harold O. Pacheco, 81, of Pampa, died March 17, 2014 in Borger. Services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Gene Gee, Lefors Church of Christ minister, officiating. Cremation will follow under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Pacheco was born October 10, 1932 in La Jara, Colorado where he was reared and went to school. He married Bessie Duran in November of 1952 in Taos, New Mexico. As a young man, he started riding as a professional jockey where he would ride for over thirty years. He competed throughout Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. Later, he would sustain an injury that would retire him from horse racing. After that, he was self-employed until he began working with Cabot until his retirement. Mr. Pacheco returned to his love of horses where he helped train race horses. In his spare time he liked to build and weld, but most of all, he enjoyed being with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Donald H. Pacheco and Manny Pacheco; and a daughter, Angela Merrill. Survivors include his wife Bessie Pacheco of the home; six daughters, Yolanda Moya and husband Gene, Brenda Martinez and husband Art, all of Pampa, Patsy Manny and husband Greg of Raleigh, North Carolina, Margie Sara of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Deanna Graves of Clovis, New Mexico, and Carmen Hendrickson and husband Shayne of Lefors; two sons, Randy Pacheco and wife Barbie of Gatesville, and Johnny Pacheco and fiancée Velma of Amarillo; one brother, four sisters, fourteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
