Roy Merrick

Roy Merrick, 37, died March 18, 2014 in Pampa. Memorial services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, with Rodney Weatherly, interim pastor, officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Merrick was born December 3, 1976 in Amarillo. He attended schools in Amarillo, graduating from Caprock High School in 1995. After graduation, he worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice at the Clements Unit for several years. Roy had been a resident of Pampa since 2013. He liked to read and he was known for his dry sense of humor. He loved spending time with his children and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Roy was preceded in death by his father, James Edwin Merrick.  Survivors include two sons, Micheal Edward Merrick and Logan Christopher Merrick, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Tiffani Nicole Morris and husband Anthony of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; several stepchildren and two step-grandchildren; his mother, Harriet Koenig Hearn of Amarillo; his sister, Tamara Sanders and husband Kenneth of Pampa; two nieces and two great-nephews.
