Betty J. Harris, 84, died May 6, 2014 in Pampa. Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, May 9, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dr. Jerry R. Lane, pastor of the United Methodist Church of White Deer, and Judge Phil Vanderpool, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Harris was born June 6, 1929 near Rayland, Texas, and had been a resident of Pampa since 1952. She married Bill J. Harris on March 8, 1947 in Amarillo and their loving marriage continued for over 60 years. Betty was a homemaker and a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in Pampa where she and Bill taught Sunday school for the 2-year-old children for over 43 years. Betty was a true Chicago Cubs baseball fan and loved the Pampa Harvesters. She and Bill seldom missed a Harvester home football game. Betty dearly loved her family and was a devoted wife and a truly wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty’s dedication to her family was an inspiration. She always led our family by loving example and we will miss her. She would remind our family to remain strong and to pray for and be kind to each other. She was always the strongest supporter in every way of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Our family will always go forward with the strength, confidence and courage she gave to each of us. Our family would like to express our love for and sincere thanks to mom’s caregiver and best friend Lynette Maciel. Lynette and all of mom’s caregivers, Leticia, Sara, Linda, Katie and Aida made our mother’s life better each day. Survivors include one son, Rick J. Harris and wife Cindy of Pampa; one daughter, Judy Osborn and husband Steve of Rowlett; one daughter-in-law, Pam Harris of Pampa; six grandchildren, Kim Hogan, Kelly Payne, Kamron Nonhof, Brandon Osborn, Kevin Osborn and Taylor Harris; and four great-grandchildren, Alex Lopez, Judd Lopez, Rhett Payne, and Sam Nonhof.
