Dorothy Stone Porter, 89, of Pampa, was received into her Heavenly Father’s Arms on Friday, May 16, 2014, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, May 19, 2014, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Porter was born March 2, 1925 in Bridgeport, Texas to Barney and Tommie Stone and moved to Gray County in 1928. Dorothy was a 1943 graduate of Pampa High School where she was class salutatorian. She married Myron J. “Mike” Porter on Sept. 25, 1943 in Fort Worth. She was a member of First Baptist Church for over 80 years, and she was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union at First Baptist. Dorothy and her husband were members of the Mission Service Corps building churches around the country. She was a member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary. Dorothy was a Godly Christian woman who loved to read, cook, and take care of her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Roberta Stone and Joyce Gikas, a brother, Robert Stone, and two granddaughters, Becky Porter and Christy McCathern. Survivors include her husband, Myron J. “Mike” Porter of the home; four daughters, Jan McCathern and husband Glenn and Cheri Patterson and husband Dan, all of Amarillo, Jeanna Zuniga and husband Daniel and Deanna Polasek and husband Eugene, all of Pampa; two sons, Myron J. “Mickey” Porter, Jr. and wife Suzie of Layton, Utah and Rod Porter and wife Barbara of Lefors; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
