Clifford J. Jewett, 89, died May 17, 2014 in Pampa. Services are at 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor of Briarwood Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery with military honors courtesy of U. S. Army, Fort Hood, Texas, and V.F.W. Post #1657. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Jewett was born August 2, 1924 in Lamar County. He married Stella Jo Roach on November 2, 1950 in Hollis, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on October 1, 2006. Clifford moved to Amarillo in 1950, retiring from the City of Amarillo in 1979. He moved to his childhood farm in Ashtola in 1979, living there until 1999 when he moved to Pampa. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving as sergeant during World War II with the 160th Infantry Division where he was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Clifford enjoyed fishing, his dog “Cocoa”, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Rosa Jewett; 5 sisters; a daughter, Barbara Mason; and a son-in-law, Jim Bagrich. Survivors include his son, Bobby Jewett of Pampa; his daughter, Linda Bagrich and Paul Corpening, both of Amarillo; three brothers, Robert Jewett of Greensboro, Pennsylvania, John Jewett and wife Judy of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Arthur Dean Jewett and wife Linda of Panhandle; seven grandchildren, Brian Mason and wife Lizzie, Brandon Mason, Kristie Underwood and husband Jarrod and Krishauna McKinney and husband Earl, all of Amarillo, Christopher Jewett and wife Shellie of Pampa, Tonya Chronister and husband Brooke of McAlester, Oklahoma, and Lauren Jewett of Lewisville; eleven great-granddaughters, Lindsey, Kiauna, Kaitlin, Hope, Hanna, Caroline, Gabrielle, Bella, Raylee, Reagan, and Kyleigh; and special Bagrich family members.
