Johnnie Mae Whitehead, 77, of White Deer, died May 29, 2014 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, June 2, 2014, at White Deer United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Jerry R. Lane, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in White Deer Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Whitehead was born October 27, 1936 in Pampa, where she graduated from Pampa High School. She attended West Texas State University in Canyon. She had been a resident of White Deer for the past fifty years. Johnnie Mae was a member of White Deer United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother and “Mamie.” Survivors include two sons, James Donald Newman and wife Terry of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Lewis E. Newman, Sr., and wife Tina of White Deer; a daughter, Barbara Seiloff and husband Ron of Baggs, Wyoming; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
