John Daniel "Danny" Smith

John Daniel “Danny” Smith, 62, died June 14, 2014 in Pampa. Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Philip Elsheimer, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Smith was born September 2, 1951 in Odessa. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1975. He married Jaye Brown on June 17, 1974 in Ballinger. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War, and later served in the U. S. Army Reserves until 1975. Danny was an operator for Conoco Phillips for 30 years, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Odessa. He was preceded in death by his father, W. C. Smith; and his mother, Darlene Peacock. Survivors include his wife, Jaye Smith of the home; two sons, Justin Smith and wife Alisha of Kingwood, and Hilton Brown and wife Cindy of Decatur; a brother, David Smith and wife Charlene of Woodward, Oklahoma; and three grandsons, Coleten, Landen and Brayden Smith, all of Kingwood. Memorials may be made to the Don & Sybil Harrington Cancer Center for the benefit of BSA Hospice patients, 1600 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, Texas 79106.
