Mary Pearson Smith

Mary Pearson Smith, 74, died June 25, 2014 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 28, 2014 at First Christian Church, with Dr. Jeff Knighton, officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Smith was born April 13, 1940 in Spearman. She was a 1958 graduate of Spearman High School and attended the University of Oklahoma and the University of Colorado. She married Doyle Smith on January 19, 1961 in Raton, New Mexico. Mary had been a resident of Pampa since 1969, moving from Miami. She was a member of First Christian Church and was a Life Master Bridge player. Mary enjoyed cooking and sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Pearson in 1953 and Lois Pearson Megert in 1997. Survivors include her husband, Doyle Smith of the home; 2 sons, Stephen Smith and wife Paula of Pampa, and Sherman Smith and wife Diana of Fort Worth; two brothers, Ira Pearson of St. Petersburg, Florida and Russell Megert of Amarillo; two sisters, Gwen Reed of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Melinda Hopper of St. Petersburg, Florida; four grandchildren, Miles Smith, Marissa Mackay, Ashleigh Seideman, and Shelby Patton; and three great-grandchildren.
