H. A. Sloan, 94, of Pampa, died Friday, July 11, 2014, in Pampa. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Rick Parnell, associate pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the U. S. Army. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Sloan was born August 4, 1919 in Cooke County, Texas and attended schools in Saint Jo, Texas. As a young man, he helped to farm with his father for many years. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. H. A. married Lesta Dick on Dec. 30, 1957 in Clovis, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on Feb. 10, 2014. H. A. worked as a pipeliner for many years. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. H. A. loved the outdoors and will be greatly missed by family and friends. His granddaughter will always remember him as her “lil man.” H. A. was also preceded in death by two daughters, Sue White and Earline Batson, and by three grandchildren, Diane Crawford, Harold Batson, and Earl Dean Richarson. Survivors include a son, Donald Dick and wife Mary of Maynard, Alabama; a brother, Troy Sloan and wife Frankie of Denton; six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren.
