O. L. Presley, Jr.

O. L. Presley, Jr., 97, of Lefors, died July 18, 2014 in Pampa. Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, July 21, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Lefors, with Rev. Lewis Ellis, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Heights Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Presley was born May 30, 1917 in Lakeview to Oscar Lee and Mattie Maude Redding Presley. He married Opal Fay Cates on December 10, 1939 in Mangum, Oklahoma. They were happily married for 60 years before she preceded him in death on January 28, 1999. He moved to the G. H. Sanders Ranch in 1939 and moved to Lefors in 1948. O. L. was a member of First Baptist Church of Lefors. He served on the Lefors Federal Credit Union Board of Directors, and received a 30-year service award from the Credit Union in January of 2012. He owned and operated O. L. Presley Contractors. He was a former president of the Lefors Senior Citizens Center. He served as Gray County commissioner for Precinct 1 from January 1, 1977 until December 31, 1988. O. L. loved to fish and spent all his spare time in his boat on a lake. He was proud of his community and volunteered his time often to help his friends. O. L. was also preceded in death by two brothers, Willard Presley and Spencer Presley; and two sisters, Stella Yarborough and Doyce Parker. Survivors include his daughter, Carolyn Hanover and husband Raymond of Skellytown; a sister, Louise Pruett of Mangum, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Lindy Forsyth and husband Kenny of Lefors, and Kim Campbell and husband Casey of Keller; eight great-grandchildren, Dustin Forsyth and wife Alicia of LaCrosse, Kansas, Gracie Campbell, Derek Campbell, Christine Campbell, Carson Campbell, Kitana Campbell, Kathryn Campbell and Stormy Campbell, all of Keller; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Lefors Senior Citizens Center, P.O. Box 158, Lefors, Texas 79054, or Memorial Heights Cemetery Fund, c/o Lefors Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 425, Lefors, Texas 79054.
