Paul R. Howard, 86, of Pampa, died July 24, 2014 in Amarillo, and he definitely did it his way. Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, July 28, 2014 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Pastor Larry Dunlap of Valleyview Church of the Nazarene in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites courtesy of Pampa Masonic Lodge #966. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Howard was born June 13, 1928 in Stroud, Oklahoma to Walter Oliver and Ida Jewel Harbison Howard. He was a 1946 graduate of Borger High School. He received his Associates degree at Frank Phillips College where he also played basketball. Paul married the love of his life, Mary E. Blain, on June 7, 1952 in Borger. She preceded him in death on April 27, 1998. He had been a resident of Pampa for the past sixty-two years after moving from Borger. Paul was the owner and operator of Howard Compressor Service, Inc. for 34 years. He was a member of Pampa Masonic Lodge #966 and Khiva Shrine Temple of Amarillo. He was a member of the Pampa Country Club for fifty-seven years where he was an avid golfer. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, W. A. “Bud” Howard, and a sister, Violet Ziegelgruber. Survivors include five daughters, Paulette Edgar and husband Michael of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Pam Deeds and husband Clint of Amarillo, Linda Enloe and husband Mike of DeSoto, Lisa Wills and husband Maury of Pampa, and Misti Ebenkamp and husband Mark of Van Vleck; a brother, Kenneth Howard and wife Gaye of Odessa; sister-in-law, DeAnn Hill of Wagoner, Oklahoma; several nephews and nieces, including, Lee Ziegelgruber and wife Carol and Dick Blain and wife Becky, all of Pampa; nine grandchildren, Matt Edgar and wife Casie of Oklahoma City, Angela Kreaps and husband Michael of Edmond, Oklahoma, Genie Robison and husband Jeff, Trulyn Deeds and wife Jessica, and Aaron Baird, all of Amarillo, Shaun Enloe and wife Audrey of Red Oak, Holly Enloe of DeSoto, Heather Wills and Kaylee Wills, both of Pampa; ten great-grandchildren, Caleb and Katelyn Kreaps, Austin and Blayne Robison, Natalie Enloe, Lilee Baird, Jayton and Korbin Ennis, Tyler-May Wills, and Owen Deeds. The family would like to extend a special thanks to BSA Hospice and Ronda and Erica Johnson for their loving care during Paul’s last four days.
