Frieda Rogers, 87, of Pampa, died August 14, 2014 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, August 18, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Chaplain Bryan Cooper of Heritage Convalescent Center of Amarillo, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Rogers was born January 10, 1927 in Gem City. She attended grade school in Canadian, and after her family moved, she attended and graduated from White Deer High School. After graduation, she worked as a nurse’s aide at Worley Hospital in Pampa. Frieda married John Thomas Rogers on August 3, 1947 in Garden City, Kansas, and they moved to the family farm in Roberts County. He preceded her in death on August 9, 2007. She worked with the Girl Scouts of America for many years and was a member of the Wayside Club. Frieda was also a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was the matriarch of the family, and always had the heart of a servant for others. Frieda was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Linda Sue Rogers; and a sister, Bettye Smith. Survivors include her son, J. T. Rogers, Jr., and wife Tambra of Pampa; two daughters, Carrie Rogers of Houston and Judy Bragg of McKinney; a brother, Philip Meek and wife Ruby of Pampa; a sister, Marjy Olsen and husband Doug of Gary, Indiana; three grandsons, Trey Rogers and wife Gina of Port Lavaca, Hal Rogers of Lubbock, and Colin Mortimore of Conway, Arkansas; two great-grandsons, Clayton Rogers and Carson Rogers, both of Port Lavaca; and a great-granddaughter, Allie Rogers of Port Lavaca. Memorials may be made to the Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains, 6011 SW 45th Ave., Amarillo, Texas 79109. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 PM Sunday, August 17, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home.
