Senora Mayo Lewis Gores

Senora Mayo Lewis Gores, 81, of Pampa, died August 19, 2014 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Lewis Ellis, Baptist minister, and Rev. Dr. Jerry R. Lane, pastor of United Methodist Church of White Deer, officiating. Burial will follow in White Deer Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Gores was born December 16, 1932 near Gordon, in Palo Pinto County, to Henry N. and Gladys Pitman Mayo. She was a 1950 graduate of Pampa High School. Senora married Robert L. Lewis on May 17, 1952 in Clovis, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1993. She later married Riemer (Pete) Gores in May of 1999. She worked as a tax clerk for Wayne E. Brown, CPA, and Grantham, Cory & Heare, PC for forty years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, and also Pampa Senior Citizens Center where she served as treasurer. Senora was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Gerald Mayo and Calvin Mayo. Survivors include her husband, Pete Gores of the home; a daughter, Holly Bailey and husband George of Garland; two sons, Robert Lynn Lewis of Fort Worth, and Fred Lewis and wife Vivian of Arlington; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the White Deer Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 273, White Deer, Texas 79097. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 PM Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home.
