Bessie D. Pacheco, 76, of Pampa, died August 27, 2014 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM (MT) Friday, September 5, 2014, at Manassa Cemetery in Manassa, Colorado, with Bishop Kirk Jarvies, of the Manassa Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Pacheco was born December 17, 1937 in Antonito, Colorado. She was the salutatorian of her senior class in Colorado, graduating in 1955. She married Harold Pacheco in November of 1952 in Taos, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2014. She had been a resident of Pampa for the past 32 years. Bessie was a homemaker. She loved going to the casinos and playing the slot machines. She loved her grandchildren, especially “Muchach.” Bessie was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Pacheco in 2008, a daughter, Angela Merrill in 2013, and a son, Manny Pacheco in 2014. Survivors include two sons, Johnny Pacheco and wife Velma of Amarillo, and Randy Pacheco and wife Barbie of Valley Mills; seven daughters, Yolanda Moya and husband Gene, and Brenda Martinez and husband Arthur, all of Pampa, Pat Manny and husband Greg of Raleigh, North Carolina, Charlotte Lunsford of Amarillo, Margie Sara of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Deanna Chiller and husband Tom of Clovis, New Mexico, and Carmen Hendrickson and husband Shayne of Lefors; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The body will lie in state from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM both Tuesday and Wednesday, September 2nd and 3rd, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home.
