Valta W. Trusty, 81, of Pampa, passed away September 18, 2014 in Pampa Services will be at 10:00 AM Monday September 22, 2014 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Dr. Ran Loy, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Valta was born September 15, 1933 in Earth, Texas, to Rena and Watson Welch. She was raised in Pampa and a 1952 graduate of Pampa High School. On July 3, 1952, she married James Trusty and this year they celebrated 62 years of marriage. Her working career included Cabot Corporation, Fields Menswear and Julie’s Hallmark. Valta was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi where she held titles as Chapter Girl of the Year, City Council President, and Valentine Sweetheart. She was also a former member of the Pampa Garden Club where she received awards for her roses and floral design. Currently Valta was a member of First United Methodist Church of Pampa and the United Methodist Women, where she received the 2008 Woman of the Year award. She was also a volunteer for Pampa Meals on Wheels. Valta was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Doris W. Reid; her stepfather Mel Shores; and her stepmother Conyetta Welch. Survivors include: her husband, James of the home; son, Philip Trusty of Dallas; two nieces, Dona Clements and Kristen Hunt, both of Amarillo; one nephew, Steve Dirickson of Washington; an aunt, Sybil Maxwell of Borger; an uncle, James Passons of Amarillo; five great nieces, one great nephew, one great great nephew, and numerous cousins. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Juanita Munoz, Mary Laub and Nancy Villanueva for their loving care during Valta’s illness. Memorials may be made to Pampa Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 939, Pampa, Texas 79066-0939, First United Methodist Church Pampa Building Fund, P.O. Box 1981, Pampa, Texas 79066-1981, or a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home.
