Jo Ann Reedy

Jo Ann Reedy, 69, of Lefors, died September 22, 2014 in Amarillo. Services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, with Gene Gee, minister of Lefors Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Reedy was born July 12, 1945 in Madera, California. As a young girl, her family moved to Arkansas for a short period of time, and then returned to California where she was reared and attended school. Jo Ann married Roy Reedy on August 24, 1976 in Reno, Nevada. In 1991, they moved to the Gray County area where she resided up until her death. She worked at Wal-Mart for several years. In her spare time, Jo Ann loved to grow things, and especially enjoyed gardening. She also loved the outdoors where she enjoyed fishing and camping. She will be remembered as an easy-going, happy-go-lucky woman with a great personality. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Nancy Turner; her first husband, Danny Newkirk; a sister, Mary Helen Redfern; and three brothers, Franklin Turner, Desmond Turner and Bonnie Turner. Survivors include her husband, Roy Reedy of the home; three daughters, Sandra Palmer and husband Charles, and Barbara Newkirk, all of Bakersfield, California, and Carol Palmer and husband Robert of Taft, California; one son, Michael Newkirk of Bakersfield, California; four stepchildren, Deborah Reedy of Aurora, Oregon, Kristen Reedy of Hendricks, Nevada, Daniel Reedy and wife of Colorado, and Russell Reedy and wife of Boca Raton, Florida; sister, Connie Foster and husband Tobie of Rosie, Arkansas; brother Oren Turner and wife Kathy of Ulm, Arkansas; numerous grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
