Buddy Briley, 87, of Childress, died September 29, 2014 in Pampa. Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 4, 2014, at Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Pampa, with Rev. Barry Owens, associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Pampa, officiating. Inurnment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Briley was born February 8, 1927 in Whitesboro. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during World War II with the 188th Parachute Infantry Regiment. After the war, Buddy moved to Phillips where he went to work for Phillips Petroleum. He retired as a pipeline supervisor after 39 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors, and loved to fish, travel and golf up until he became ill. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Irene Briley; his wife, Judy Briley; and two sisters, Freda and Charlene. Survivors include two sons, Ron Briley and wife Judi of Yuma, AZ, and Rick Briley and wife Nancy of Fairfield; a daughter, Renee Thomas and husband Tim of South Berwick, ME; a brother, Kenneth Briley and wife Clara of Ringwood, OK; four grandchildren, Ron Briley, II, Chelsea Ely, Julia Briley and Connor Thomas; four great-grandchildren; and his common-law wife, Lois Calloway of Pampa.
