Helen B. Kastein, 91, died October 8, 2014, at Pampa. Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, October 13, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Jim Friedewald, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, and Nancy Ruff, commissioned lay leader, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Kastein was born September 25, 1923 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She had been a resident of Pampa since 1947. She married Richard Kastein on September 11, 1970. Helen was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was involved in LOGO’s. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 25 years of service. She co-owned K.C. Answering Service for seven years. Helen was a longtime volunteer for Pampa Meals on Wheels, Good Samaritan Christian Services, Baker Elementary School, Coronado Healthcare Center and Pampa Nursing Home. She loved to draw and spend time with her family. Helen was “Granny” to many throughout her life. She was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtie D. Westbrook. Survivors include her husband, Richard Kastein of the home; a daughter, Pam Dinsdale of Portland, Oregon; two sons, Sam McClelland of Los Angeles, California, and Randy McClelland and wife Vickie of Pampa; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
