Sarah Emily Newman

Sarah Emily Newman, 78, our beloved angel, wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on October 22, 2014 in Pampa. Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, October 24 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Jim Yates, Interim Hospice chaplain, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Newman was born December 5, 1935 in Wichita Falls to Clyde and Cecile Thompson. She attended the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin. She married N. L. (Slim) Newman on April 27, 1952. Sarah had been a resident of Pampa since 1959. She was a longtime volunteer for Pampa Meals on Wheels and a former employee of Marie Foundations and Pampa Hobby Shop. She was a member of Paramount Baptist Church in Amarillo, and a member of the Pampa Chapter #65 Order of the Eastern Star. Sarah was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ronald (Ron) Eugene Dickinson in 2014. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, N. L. (Slim) Newman of the home; two daughters, Alma Jean Newman Dickinson of Skellytown, and Sheila Newman Moody and husband Howard of Sugar Land; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
