Eddie Hernandez, 56, of Amarillo, died November 13, 2014 in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, November 17, 2014, in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa with Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor of Briarwood Church of Pampa, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Military honors will be accorded by the U. S. Army, Fort Hood, Texas. Mr. Hernandez was born July 1, 1958 in Oakland, California. After school, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1977. Eddie married Veronica Ramirez on June 30, 1978 in Pampa. She preceded him in death on July 4, 1992. He worked for Thomas E. Creek Veteran’s Administration in Amarillo for the past 8 years, and he was a patriotic man who loved and served his country. Eddie was an avid Texas Longhorn fan. He was a giving and selfless man who put others before himself. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Survivors include three daughters, Amy Yalian and Janie Chavez, both of Amarillo, and Elizabeth Hernandez of Denver, Colorado; his mother, Mary Hernandez of Pampa; a brother, Mark Hernandez of Pampa; a sister, Debra Hernandez of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, four nieces, and two nephews.
