Doris V. Porter, 88, of Pampa, died November 24, 2014 in Pampa. Services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Porter was born May 3, 1926 in Roswell, New Mexico. She was a 1944 graduate of Clovis High School in Clovis, New Mexico. She was a former longtime resident of Odessa and Colorado City before moving to Pampa in 2009. Doris was a bus driver for special needs children for the Ector County ISD for over 20 years. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Charity Sunday school class. Doris enjoyed making people smile and laugh through her humor, and she loved gardening and music. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, F. G. “Bo” and Oma Akin, and by a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Doris Akin of Amarillo. Survivors include two sons, Lee Porter and wife Janice of Pampa, and Jack Porter and wife Beverly of Tucson, Arizona; three grandchildren, Chris Porter and wife Angela, and Gavin Porter and wife Kelley, all of Pampa, and Jai Jai Diehl and husband Gerry of Dallas; six great-grandchildren, Bradey, Emiley, Abbey, Hannah, Duncan and Lexi Porter, all of Pampa; one niece, Cynthia Tenario of Amarillo; two nephews, Ricky Akin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Patrick Akin of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and special friends, Lottie and Sergio Romo, Eunice McMillan and Marjie Rogers.
