Joyce Lou Ellen Shoulders, 90, of Pampa, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 23, 2014 in Pampa. Celebration of life services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Memory Gardens Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Joyce was born November 28, 1923 in Lueders, Texas, to E. M. and Ellen Swindle. She lived in Seminole, Oklahoma for three years, and at the age of 14, moved to Kermit. She met Bob Shoulders during the time he was stationed at the Pampa Air Base. They married on June 16, 1945 in Amarillo. He preceded her in death on January 15, 1998. Joyce was a member and teacher at Hobart Baptist Church for many years. She worked for Pampa Independent School District for 35 years. She was one to always lend a hand to someone in need. Serving others will be her enduring legacy. Survivors include her son, Michael Shoulders; her daughter, Pat Ellen Chambers and husband Kenneth; two step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Ron Rankin, Olivia’s Angels, and all of the staff with BSA Hospice for their special care and love for our mother. The family would also like to recognize the Coronado Healthcare Center staff and all of the nurses for their care. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 PM Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home.
